Outreach & Missions

PictureOn Aug. 23, 2015, FUMC had a dunk tank to help raise funds to buy a fire truck for the Northern Cheyenne reservation in Montana. Here's Rev. Kim ready for the plunge, as kids and adults took turns throwing the ball. We raised over $600 that day.
First United Methodist Church is very actively involved in a variety of mission projects.  Some projects involve us through hands-on volunteering.  Others involve us through fundraising.  Many do both.  We welcome your participation!

M
onthly Mission Emphases
Each month at First United Methodist Church, we highlight a monthly mission box project. Loose change in the offering plates and monies designated for that project are given as a gift from our church.  On the second Sunday of each month, a Mission Moment is given during worship, highlighting the local charity or denominational mission project for that month. The 2021 mission box projects are the following.
2021
January - Pantry Packs
February -  Cottages of Hope
March -  UMCOR*
April - World Service Fund*
May -  Ministerial Education Fund*

June - Africa University* (in Zimbabwe)
July - Episcopal Fund*
August - Western Jurisdiction Fund*
September - Diaper Drive

VETERANS TRIBUTE RUN & CHILI COOK-OFF - On the 2nd Saturday in October, we traditionally hold our annual Veterans Tribute Run & Chili Cook-off to raise funds for quality of life programming at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Nursing Home.

UMCOR - United Methodist Committee on Relief
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is the not-for-profit global humanitarian aid organization of the United Methodist Church.  UMCOR is working in more than 80 countries worldwide, including the United States.  Our mission, grounded in the teachings of Jesus, is to alleviate human suffering—whether caused by war, conflict or natural disaster, with open hearts and minds to all people.
