PictureOn Aug. 23, 2015, FUMC had a dunk tank to help raise funds to buy a fire truck for the Northern Cheyenne reservation in Montana. Here's Rev. Kim ready for the plunge, as kids and adults took turns throwing the ball. We raised over $600 that day.
First United Methodist Church is very actively involved in a variety of mission projects.  Some projects involve us through hands-on volunteering.  Others involve us through fundraising.  Many do both.  We welcome your participation!

M
onthly Mission Emphases
Each month at First United Methodist Church, we highlight a monthly mission project. Loose change in the offering plates and monies designated for that project are given as a gift from our church.  On the second Sunday of each month, a 3-minute Mission Emphasis is given during worship, highlighting the local charity or denominational mission project for that month. This year's mission projects are the following.
2023
January - Souper Bowl of Caring (Catholic Community Services Food Pantry)
February -  Teachers' Fund (to support classroom expenses of our FUMC public school teachers)
March - Pinecliff UM Camp (near Coaldale, UT)
April - UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief)
May -  United Methodist Men's (Stobaugh) Scholarship Fund

June - Native American School Supplies
July - Pastor's Discretionary Fund
August - Pura Vida Student Scholarships
September - Diaper Drive

October - Veterans Home Activities Fund
November - Sub for Santa (Christmas gifts for Utah Foster Kids)

December - Lantern House (homeless shelter)

Cuban Immigration Ministry 2023
Beginning in the fall of 2022, FUMC is doing ministry with Cuban refugees.  In 2023, when the U.S. created a new Cuban migration policy, FUMC began raising funds to help sponsor some Cuban family members.  As of 5/8/23, we have one family who has agreed to be the official "Sponsors" of an adult sister and her child.  We are still seeking persons who will agree to be the official "Sponsors" of two Cuban sons (young adult & adolescent).  Would you like to help us?  Donations accepted!
